Univ.Doz. Guido Baehr was born  and  raised in Westerwald/Germany. Upon graduation from high school he began his vocal studies at the Staatliche Hochschule fuer Musik in Detmold with Professor Helmut Kretschmar.  After his qualification in Music Education at after passing the State Examination for Teachers at Music Schools and Freelance Music Instructors (StMP), in 1990 he earnd his Diploma for Opera Performance (Künstlerische Reifeprüfung).

He began singing professionally while still a student, with contracts at numerous German theaters (notably Detmold, Aachen, Coburg, Essen and Muenster). Further engagements took him to Bern, Darmstadt, Hanover, Karlsruhe, Coblenz, Cologne, Krefeld-Moenchengladbach, Mannheim, Munich, Osnabrueck, Vevey-Montreux, Wuerzburg, Wuppertal and Zurich. From 1991 to 1997 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Bavarian State Theater in Nuremberg. Thereafter, until 2011 he has been a permanent member of the ensemble at the State Theater of Saarland in Saarbruecken, Gemany.
To date baritone Guido Baehr has performed more than 70 roles on the operatic stage. Highlights include the title role in Mozart's THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, Papageno in many productions of THE MAGIC FLUTE, the title role in five different productions of The BARBER OF SEVILLE, Enrico in Donizetti´s LUCIA DIE LAMMERMOOR, Marcello in Puccini´s LA BOHÈME and Danilo in THE MERRY WIDOW.
In recent years Baehr has expanded his repertoire into the Italian Kavalierbaritonfach, with acclaimed success as Renato in Verdi's UN BALLO IN MASCHERA, as Conte di Luna in IL TROVATORE, as Marquis Posa in DON CARLO and, most recently as Germont in LA TRAVIATA.
The singers versality was most impressively demonstrated by his interpretation of Jean Valjean in LES MISÉRABLES in productions in Saarbruck and at the Suedthueringisches Staatstheater Meiningen. In more than 100 sold-out performances, Baehr etablished a reputation as "one of the best German-speaking interpreters of this roleď, as noted in the respected trade journal, MUSICAL.
Baehr has enjoyed sucess not only in Germany, but also in many theaters in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy,  Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Besides being much occupied with Musiktheater Guido Baehr  dedicates himself to chamber music and oratory concerts. Several invitations to Lied recitals and master classes have led him to Italy, Japan, and Switzerland.

A passionate voice pedagogue, he taught at the Friedrich-Alexander Universitaet Nuremberg-Erlangen from 1995 to 1997. In 2005 he left his teaching position at the Musikhochschule in Mannheim for a position as Substitute Professor at the respected Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen. Until 2011 he was teaching at the Hochschule fuer Musik Saar in Saarbruck. He also gives frequent Master Classes for young professional singers.
Since 2011 he is Senior lector of Vocal Pedagogy at the Anton Bruckner Private University Linz/ Austria.
In November 2016 he became a professor of singing and won the venia docendi.

Guido Baehr is an award winner of the VDMK Singing Competition  (1990 and 1992) as well as the Young Professionals Competition of the International Richard-Strauss Gesellschaft Munich.
Baehr's artistry is documented by numerous CD-, TV-, and radio-productions.
